One of the most important principles of Taichi practice is to keep the spine straight, and the back relaxed. The Taichi posture entices the flow of fresh blood into the muscles, generate immense energy, and allow Qi to ascend up the spine through the Governing meridian to the head, like acupuncture from the inside to every part of the body. Training the body to avoid slouching and rounding the shoulders from daily activities brings better posture and spinal alignment and reduces stress on the components of the spine. |
